Truxton's American Bistro

Finding ourselves on Manchester and Sepulveda on a Saturday morning, Tak and I were hungry and yearning for a "decent" breakfast or brunch establishment. Consulting our frequently-utilized Yelp iPhone applications, Tak located a highly-rated place by the name of "Truxton's American Bistro". Turns out, Truxton's was literally walking distance from the Pep Boys shop we had just visited. We easily found street parking and were promptly seated by the friendly hostess.

I immediately noticed the friendly staff and attentive service. The modern and simple decor lends to an open and casual air with a high-ceiling resembling a wood barn house. Tak and I also noticed that the majority of their clientele included many "ladies lunching". Mothers were having brunch with their daughters and large groups of women were seen enjoying their Mimosas or Bloody Mary's.

Truxton's provides a large drinks menu with a full bar. The "Margatini" sounded interesting and I would love to try their special for $3 Mimosas or Bloody Mary's with brunch on a future visit. I also had their house coffee and it was great! Now I know what the term "full-bodied" coffee means. Tak's iced tea was also really tasty. If you're feeling celebratory, order their $15 bottle of champagne.

The new menu includes some great seasonal items. I ordered the "Breakfast Pizza". Tak ordered the "Taco Salad". See below for pics. I was pleased with the Breakfast Pizza as I'm a big fan of mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes. Tak enjoyed the Taco Salad, although he would have preferred that the beef be cooked well-done and not so rare.

Truxton's American Bistro was a nice surprise and I highly recommend Truxton's for a breakfast or brunch event. Their prices are moderate and their service is excellent.
